Why Would I Need Postpartum Care?

A common complaint among new parents is that they spend so much time preparing for the arrival of their baby, but feel unprepared for afterwards. Infant care while balancing work, prenatal life, and other relationships can be overwhelming. Though most societies aren’t structured that way anymore, raising a baby still takes a village; I would be honored to be part of yours.

What Does A Postpartum Care Specialist Do?

A postpartum care specialist is, first and foremost, a part of your caregiving village. Reliable; professional; nonjudgmental. One that is able to coordinate with other support people to provide the best care possible for families.

An active listener: offering companionship and open, active listening is just as crucial as the practical side of things. Listening and offering validation to the parent(s) to help them process their feelings.

A caretaker: making sure parent(s) are hydrated, have nutritious snacks/meals in the home, and feel soothed and as rested as possible.

A helper: meal prepper, dish washer, laundry sorter, sibling entertainer.

A cheerleader: noticing and pointing out the little things that parents are doing to bond with, help, and support their baby or babies.

A resource and educator: knowledgeable in all things postpartum, with an understanding of the perinatal period for all involved.

What if I cannot afford Postpartum Care?
